BACKGROUND

Kuoni is a global leader in the travel industry for the past 110 years, knowledgeable about the travel requirements of consumers and business partners, and translating them into contemporary travel products. Kuoni’s trips are tailor-made by travel experts, offering a very personalized experience for each person requesting a trip with them. The natural personalization that comes with the service has been done mostly offline up until now.

GOALS & OBJECTIVE

-Design the post-log-in experience for managing a quote, seeing the trip booking information, and managing bookings online.

-Design the process a user goes through to start a quote online (complementary to direct contact with a personal travel expert).

KEY FEATURES

-Ability to view and manage a quote proposed by a personal travel expert (PTE) based on the data provided by the traveler beforehand. View includes high-level details of the trip. Managing includes being able to accept, reject, add comments or have a conversation about it with the PTE.

-Allow people to start quotes online. Think about the information they will provide, as well as planning for the interaction with the PTE.

I took upon this challenging project because I for one have not booked through a personal travel agent, I have always been the one going through automated booking websites. Now for the personal travel agent I had to make sure that what I was searching for could give me some insight on how the process works.

User Interview Debrief

Designing a new feature for an existing brand can be hard but with the proper research it can help point you in the right direction. Understanding the user’s wants and goals, I have decided to create a price range tool. Once the user can establish their budget they can look through the many options given to them. Organizing and filtering through the content can help out sort that ideal destination for the traveler or travelers.

Pulling some UI trends from Kuoni’s different competitors, I devised to make a price match option. With the price match option, it gives users the ability to check out different locations while staying within their budget. The steps taken will ultimately make the process easier for both the personal travel agent and the customer when it comes time to book a getaway.

Final Thoughts

Going through the process, there was a lot to consider when searching for a destination and tying in a personal travel agent to come in and finalize the trip. From being unfamiliar with the idea to understanding the concept, it has given me awareness on why people would rather choose one from the other. Creating the price range tool gives the user a clearer view on how to organize and sort through various destinations at their fingertips. When they finally decide on a destination they can send an inquiry for a brochure or book an online appointment to talk with a personal travel agent.
